I asked this years ago, thinking it was a user subscription gone wrong, which made me sad. A reader told me they think of subscribing to a fic as leaving extra kudos.
other than the "just in case" it s kinda like leaving an extra kudo 🤣 like "i loved this so much and there s another button i havent pressed that could show this"
