Politics is a game to these people, they have to make a move once every couple of years but they don't have to engage. Most of their interactions with the state are at worst benign rather than hostile so the detail doesn't matter to them. But they drag us all down with them.

So liberal politicians can say the most reactionary things but it's all a part of the great plan towards a less intrusive politics where the liberal enjoys peace. In reality, they are the ones being lied to to a greater extent, in part liberals lying to themselves given how many times it's happened
