Prime minister we need more mental health care ( payment for appropriate counsellors especially for young people ) and better diagnosis of Mental health issues . We have so much knowledge about Trauma and mental health and what works . RCMP also need this to help them know when to intervene.
This is a horrific day. For the community to celebrate and have this happen, it shows Canada has to do more to safeguard our communities from things like this.
A very sad day for the Filipino Community in Vancouver and in Canada. I sincerely hope that our Justice System stands strong against crimes like this! #TeamCarney #VoteLiberal #NeverPoilievre
If you remain PM, please develop plans for boosting mental health care and changing the social and economic conditions that contribute to poor mental health. This tragedy should never have happened.
The federal/provincial policies on mental health care are a national shame. Someone who's had "substantive contact with the police over time" wasn't receiving adequate treatment/supervision - & that's so typical across Canada. Our gov't leaders are solely responsible for this mass murder.
Do better
We could blame the news
The person copycat a crime committed in the states earlier
We could blame the person’s parents, teachers, classmates, neighbours, ozone layer …
It’s very well established that underfunded mental health care and poor socioeconomic conditions contribute to poor mental health. These tragedies don’t happen for no reason.
It's not just one particular "incident" though, is it.
Governments are responsible for our healthcare system. A mentally ill person well-known to the police obviously hasn't been receiving adequate care/supervision for a long period.
Our gov'ts need to be held to account for their failings.
Just went to YouTube on various videos, and the trolls are out in force! Politicizing this for the benefit of the conservatives. I’m so disgusted at the state of politics in Canada. The polarization the divisiveness the hateful rhetoric. I’m enraged actually.
Of course they’re politicizing this. Poilievre is using it to boost his tough-on-crime message. This also happened in Germany just before their elections, and their far right did the same thing.
Except that the AfD were defeated in Germany, the CDU/CSU won and next month (May 2025), the CDU/CSU and the SPD Parties are going to form a Coalition Government most likely led by by the new German Chancellor Merz. Would not be surprised if PM Carney and the Liberals win a Majority tommorow
Praying we do. Carney deserves a majority. We need him to align us further and strengthen us further with our RELIABLE allies in the EU Japan S.Korea Australia and UK and others

We need to rethink how we hold these street festivals, concrete barriers for the street. This is happening over and over again world wide. It is sad we can’t enjoy our communities in peace and harmony but we have to be more vigilant and always remember these people that wish to do harm are out there

However blaming a particular incident on our government?

There are successes but as a whole I would call it a failure
Did the police fail, the person’s doctor, … ?
Blaming government is too vague

We purposely drive nearly an hour a town to shop because we support the Filipino community. My hearts with them.
