Republicans: “There’s not enough evidence in favour of gender-affirming care, so we have to ban it until you get better evidence. Oh, and we’re also making scientific research illegal. Best of luck!”

It's an old playbook for them. I remember in the late 90's when the movement for medical weed was growing they kept saying there was no evidence to support it and then put all kinds of restrictions on research.
Although Cass was eviscerated at the equalities government committee meeting over the puberty blocker ban yesterday. The medical experts basically said experimentation on kids is illegal, we don’t need to anyway as we have the evidence, and Cass is ideological!
Ah, I hadn't seen that Cyber Spice got there first. It is interesting, particularly the one panel member who was on the one hand reiterating transphobic talking points but on the other saying, "But the Cass study has a ton of issues, and this 'study' on puberty blockers is hugely problematic."
There was a really good breakdown of this yesterday, let me see if I can find the thread for you. Cass and the report got absolutely bodied by actual experts.
There isn’t any reporting. As someone said, if you want
to know how it went neither the Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail or Guardian mentions it. This is from an observer in the room.

Yes - I saw Lee Hurley’s skeet about that.
Utter abandonment of journalistic ethics on this topic.
But I’m very glad the charlatan Hannah Barnes had a miserable day.
1. Theories that have been proved false
2. Theories that have not yet been proved false
Care should always be prescribed based on the best available evidence at the time. Right now, that supports gender-affirming care
