They sure did. And now they’re in the comments of that FXPDX post saying “I don’t use AI, use procreate!” Like procreate doesn’t let you put a hidden layer in your files so they don’t show up in timelapses.

They promoted genAI, charge almost $500 for a table, while nearly every artist attending barely break even due to it being more an autograph hunt that charges between $25-$300 a pop. I jokingly called my last experience as “trickle-down economics in action”

I don’t do their shows either, I always found it a bit weird they charge you for an artist alley booth when you apply and if you don’t get in they refund you.

The first time I applied it took months after my rejection before I got my refund after emailing them several times about it.

I backed out of their Denver show in 21 bc they refused to have a mask mandate (height of COVID, just after the first rollout of vaccines). Took them 2 years to refund me.

Yeah. They initially told me I wouldn’t get a refund at all, since I pulled out, but changed their mind I guess and eventually a check showed up in the mail. I still don’t know why, tbh.

I try to. And I know it’s hard for con runners to keep up on it, especially if they aren’t artists, themselves, but if someone is flagged to them, they need to do something about it. I’ve been at shows where the AA/vendor head has kicked promptists out. I know it’s possible.
