Why show full handles (with domain suffixes)? They are distracting and unwieldy, no? Do most people predict they will be dropped, at least from mentions in a post? As an example, cc @togelius.bsky.social is much worse than @togelius no?

I thought switching to https://jeffclune.com would make me @jeffclune.jeffclune.com but oddly it just became my name? Not sure how it works for multiple people at a domain? All of this confuses me.
You can have multiple people on a domain, it works the same way a website does (with a subdomain!). The domain I own is https://www.khatri.io/ but I've set up my (and my sister's) personal sites as subdomains. It's just a matter of putting the TXT record in the right spot :)
Bc it would give special precedence to https://bsky.social domain which is not a centralised aspect of the protocol (thankfully)
Would get confusing once there are many AppViews, each hiding certain subdomains. Also consider "foo.bar.baz" - how do you know if there is a part hidden in multi-level case?
Yeah, I can grant someone (or an alt of me) @jeffclune.yetanotheruseless.com (but not something@somewhere: it’s a domain/subdomain not an email address)

...actually, Gmail does exactly that by default! And it works well.
I second it. :)
I like that idea tho. Just decreasing how often it appears seems like a simple improvement.
There will probably be alternative bluesky clients soon and I wonder how they'll handle it.
I wouldn’t click a link in a post from the latter
