Rest easy.
A lot of economic problems are difficult to turn around. Immigration has always been difficult.
I'm not sure they've done much for welfare, tbh, and the surpluses were a result of better-than-expected tax revenues, not the result of policy decisions.
But you're right on workers and care.
My criticism isn't the outcomes, though, fwiw, it's the lack of action.
Selectors have missed an opportunity after the Committee for Economic Development of Australia speech this evening.
Consistency is a virtue.
I think he got lucky, because revenues exceeded forecasts (both his and the last Treasurer's).
He should have banked almost all of it, but spent some.
The good bit was that he resisted the urge to spend it all.
The China stuff is *excellent*.
Less-unimpressed recently but mostly because they haven't said or done anything of substance (never interrupt your enemy if he's making a mistake!), but I have, plenty, in the past, and will happily do so again when they deserve it!
