I switched to eBay over 10 years ago and I’ve never had the experience of not finding something outside of Amazon but I have heard a few ppl say they have had that experience. I still think buying as much as possible not from Amazon would be a huge improvement.

I wfh and had gradually drifted into buying massively from amazon.

It's easy to miss just how isolating this becomes.

My favorite memory of this past holiday season was when my 3yo son had a snow day and we just went out, grabbed a coffee, picked out some little gifts, just interacted with people.

We're lucky that we have a local chain grocery store 3 blocks away. The prices are much higher than Target or a bigger chain, but I'm happy to pay them to have it nearby and not give money to the ghouls

One of our child care people (nanny one summer and occasional babysitter now) works nights/weekends/summers at the local grocery store (primary employment in education). My wife met her just by...being friendly while shopping in the community.

So much extra value that's so easy to...forget.
