Film production was plagued with issues. Belushi and Aykroyd switched parts during preproduction, made constant changes to Larry Gelbart’s screenplay, and tried to get John Landis to replace Avildsen as director. Meanwhile, Belushi’s drug abuse was spinning out of control.
