They’re doing it. I’m afraid I’ll get called a conspiracy theorist for stating this, but I think this kind of thing has (not so) secretly been in the works with trump all along. Remove US sanctions and deepen economic ties with Russia. This was the plan it seems since 2016.

The West will never accept, and never forgive Putin’s Russia.
Any attempt to infiltrate Western culture, economy, politics, etc - will be met with overwhelming rejection.
Only WHEN Putin is out of power, and only IF Russia embraces Western values - will they have a chance to join the West.
Period.
