Practical question: what is effect of Trump citizenship EO on mundane things like, say, applying for a passport or SS card. Presumably a birth certificate won't be enough anymore. 1/

That's a good question - the way I read it, the agencies would have to spell it out in regulations "consistent" with the order, but the order doesn't say whether agencies just have to put up notices, put questions on forms, demand proof, or what.
One reason this could matter is by making EO unpopular, in addition to being unlawful. Voter tolerance for this sort of thing may be dependent upon how it impacts them. 2/2
More important question will be: when is Trump Citizenship EO extended to exclude other distinct and insular minority groups from the definition of “Americans”?
I was thinking about this. All they need to do is add a question on the application, and, of course, say the penalties of perjury apply to applications. Something like "did your mother or father have legal immigration status at the time of your birth?" Make people afraid.

This seems on point:

Other, than, like, just asking on the passport application.
