It goes hand in hand with an expectation that you *should*, in some way, hate your work.

Not conforming with the idea of not enjoying work means you’re less respected, you’ve not ‘made the same sacrifices’ as everyone else, even though they had the opportunity to pursue a passion or dream career.

people don't see artists (musicians, writers, crafters, etc) as laborers and that's the entire problem right there

people are inclined to see creativity as a hobby or downtime activity, you can't make it actual real work, what rights do you possibly want when you're being a slacker with no ambition
