I am sad to have to tell you that Paul Tapponnier died on Dec 24 in Beijing.

With Peter Molnar he was the father of indentation tectonics / extrusion processes in Asia. A great man of geology in short. I had the joy and pleasure of working with him in many Asian countries. ⚒️ 🧪 🏔️
