Return to office email just dropped for all SSA employees, union contracts be damned. Dropped after 5pm, per usual, with return to office on Monday, the first day we will potentially be working unpaid. Fuckers 🤬🤬🤬

Federal Judge just ordered all of the Federal employees reinstated that Elon illegally let go. This will be no different. It is going to be messy and looks like a shut down will add some flavor to the mix. I hate The Felon to an unhealthy level.
No. They basically shredded our union contract we just signed in September that guaranteed two days a week telework that expires in 2029. The RTO email didn’t address the union contract. We are allowed to unionize because per federal labor law we aren’t allowed to strike. Now we have no rights. 🤬
Better to work without pay than work for a fascist government. I'm on Social Security and I hope they shut down the government so they don't have free rein to take all the money.
SSA doesn’t close in event of shutdown, we just work without pay. So yes. This matters. The RTO order starts the first day we potentially work without pay. Because low morale and psychological warfare is the goal.
I am so grateful for SSA workers. Today one helped finalize my application for spousal benefits that I applied for two months ago. He was so patient and answered all my questions. Federal workers are the lifeblood of our government.
Seems like it’s happening one by one to all federal agencies… this is just so fucked. My partner is a federal worker, and he now has to report back 5 days a week in building 2 hour commute to & from just out of SPITE & hatred for federal workers/WFH
We are considered essential services for Americans so we are required to work during a shutdown with the promise that when the shutdown ends we get paid everything we’re owed. We are legally not allowed to not work or we will be fired. Federal workers are subject to different laws than civilians.
You’re going to need those contracts and I hope you get your jobs reinstated as they were before this asshole got back in office. What a c waste of money and time. Taxpayers will pay for lawsuits.
Under different circumstances this might seem like a great opportunity to negotiate for a living wage and better conditions. But since the government doesn't care about agreements anyway...
If you can hide a wire, do. Keep your eyes open, head down. If you can, back up or copy vital data. Email yourself your evaluations and other important data. They already jacked with the website. I was on there today. We are with you. Stay strong.
i understand completely plus we all need you in there doing the work that you do. but the rest of us need to protect you and we can only do that if we act together, now.
I wouldn’t apply to work for the federal government then because we can and absolutely do work unpaid during a shutdown. Not all of us but a not number of us.
True Dat. I remember in the early 1990's when I was briefly with the feds, there was a shutdown for several weeks. Thank God I had direct deposit with a federal employees credit union, they floated all of us 0% loans in the amount of our normal paychecks, so we could make rent. It was stressful!
And if you even remotely suspect that the occupancy rate of the building is too high call your local fire department and OSHA (often state ran - not federal)
So sorry that your working situation is now so chaotic. SSA employees are collateral damage in a political game. None of this is your fault. I appreciate the work you all do each day.
I can only imagine how terrible this has been for all of you. I feel like the fact these emails come after business hours is actually great evidence that they’re aware of the legal ramifications.
FWIW, I’m hoping for the best outcome for you all and this American is very proud of you!
I suggest we, fed employees, all take a vacation at the same time. Come on up to Vermont, I'm sure we can find several thousand back yards to pitch a tent in.
Oh so now the plot line has evolved to: you're fired, wait come back, no wait you're fired fuck you, oh hey so we're mad about it but come back but STILL fuck you suckerssss because we might have to let you come back but at least somewhere we won't have to give people money- sort of. Jfc

Another email with no signed name of who issued or wrote it. We are accountable to folks who won’t name themselves or their positions, possibly non-agency DOGE hacks.
They are scaring people into compliance through false security. You’re going to lose your job anyway. Might as well do the right thing and resist. Fight back. There is no job security. Elon is gutting everything
So far those of us labeled essential or public facing have been excluded from all the threats which will hopefully continue to be the case. So for public facing employees like myself we are incentivized to keep showing up. But it’s getting harder to do.
The RTO email did include a recommendation for management to be liberal with approving leave for a couple weeks during the transition but yah. Anybody who’s ever looked for daycare knows those wait lists can be lengthy. It’s definitely gonna be an issue for people.
Yet another way the US gov't doesn't understand its people.
Not only are daycare wait lists long, but daycare is expensive in the US. Just one more high-priced bill packed onto the backs of working people.
But, hmmmm, no one in the US gov't can figure out why US birth rates are down 🧐🤔

Many employees have been 💯% successful via WFH 😡
If someone tells you to work off the clock, DON'T.
DON'T EVER.
Working without pay involuntarily is just about the worst thing a supervisor can ask a worker to do.
FUCK that shit.
This isn’t like other jobs
It's going to be a sh*t show, so why not let the air clear for a couple of days is all I'm saying
FWIW, I’m hoping for the best outcome for you all and this American is very proud of you!
This is literally the biggest mess I've ever seen.
