yes. it's the worst of all worlds. books take time but they're written by one brain and get all the benefit of being one person's idiosyncratic POV. movies are collaborative productions, but are also one concentrated dose. TV wants to be long and flexible and multiform, and it's getting muffled

when every streaming series wraps in 3 seasons or less we don’t really get to see a show respond to the ways the world can change around it. that those seasons are generally all written at once makes them seem even more isolated, and navalgazey. Tv from nowhere.
