I used to litter the suggestions box in the forums with ideas like this allllll the time.

Pretty sure ARX was partly because of my idea.
Although I named them Fredits and I'm disappointed Frontier didn't go with it.

...but make it permanent. A light would be cool but a beacon signal would work, too. With the upcoming colonization feature, I'd love to drop these as markers for interesting stuff I find.

Before we get racing as a gameplay feature, the community could set up racing tracks, airshow trackside beacons, goalposts (for Guardian Orb Football) or anything they want with these beacons.
