…I wouldn’t have voted for it; the corny San Francisco pre-teen in me still has a real soft spot for that song. Nothing against Jennifer Rush, though; for me Frankie would be the weakest link of the three (but still good enough to vote for.)
I can’t speak for Jennifer or Huey but the Frankie one is impossible to read without thinking of the queer context at the time, one very much brought to life in All of us Strangers last year
All three really are fine examples of quite particular strains of mid-80s pop. If Frankie has the edge as my favourite it is because of the meta-context; this is a face-value simple grand ballad plus lyrical oddness (a proto-Seal!) billed as the end of a trilogy with two truly wild bangers.
