If nothing else, the appeal of apocalyptic literature breaks through- dreaming of God burning these evil systems to the ground- shaking the powerful with the very things they are so proud of while doing it- and replacing them with eternal, measurable justice is hella comforting. (Pun intended?)

While I still shy away from deciding what form it will take exactly (b/c the scriptures are kinda vague about it), I have NO PROBLEM saying that evil deeds will be judged by God, and we should absolutely fear that happening to us. These men need the Fear of the Lord in their lives ASAP.

I 100% agree. Our evil deeds will be judged. That’s the main reason substitutionary atonement fails to make sense to me, and PENAL substitutionary atonement is downright immoral and not at all strongly supported by scripture.

But the fear of the Lord ought to lead us to repentance 😮‍💨
