Let me be clear, I'm definitely no fucking model making wizard. I'm pretty washed tbh. But in my experience, it's much easier cleaning up my own mess than cleaning up someone else.

I've started taking inspiration from booth outfits though. The belts/pants I have in my latest picture were inspired by a pretty popular booth outfit, but I put a bit of my own spin on it (plus I couldn't get every detail without going over) Saved me like $40.00 or something too so that's a plus.
I've found fixing other people's nonsense to be not that hard as of late, so many tools to help in blender with dwt and the knowledge I have now about edge loops and jewelry .
I'd believe that, especially now compared to the old days. Though if the ratio is still like 6 hours retro-fitting vs 11 hours from scratch, I'd rather just do it from scratch still, especially if I'm paying money on top of that too.
For world stuff, though, I absolutely will pay money cause I don't wanna spend 8 hours making a *fucking pickup truck* or the 80th fucking ladder variation.
11h feels like a short amount of time for a scratch outfit. And its probably say more like 2-3h for a paid asset. Maybe that's my inexperience with texturing bleeding through though, cant do that to an acceptable quality at all.
You talked about outfits getting really expensive too, I'm somewhat immune to that because my base is old as hell and nobody makes new things for it anymore. I'm still buying and using stuff made a year+ ago and adapting it to my customized version of Kokoa
