Things like solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, insulation: these will lower your energy costs and make you more comfortable (necessary climate adaptation) and also reduce your energy costs.
The way to tell that a climate adaptation is not for you has nothing to do with its footprint—it’s not just that personal footprints are inconsequential; our footprints are going to be moved by forces much larger than ours.
It’s whether it will help you as those forces really grab hold and yank.
Yes! Joining a group can help make this less lonesome (and more effective). I've been volunteering with Citizens' Climate Lobby and it's been a great experience. (The strategy avoids yelling but still puts pressure on lawmakers to start taking adequate action)

Get used to doing this; it’s the most effective thing you can do.
Find substitutes you like now, so you don’t have to figure it out all of a sudden alongside millions of other people.
It’s whether it will help you as those forces really grab hold and yank.
And pick the things that will increase your adaptation.
