Pretty sure fusion is relegated to an alternate future at this point. Maybe it COULD work, but solar is already so cheap it's just not worth it unless we're like, star hopping or physically out of room to put up panels.

My reading between the lines is that he does not have a scientific answer for his fusion except snake oil, and the snake oil is OpenAI, and he does not have a way to make OpenAI better except snake oil, and that snake oil is the promise of unlimited, free power through fusion.
