Measles infection can cause pneumonia or encephalitis, even death, soon after infection. What most folks don't know is that measles can also kill years later, from SSPE, subacute sclerosing pan-encephalitis. It's brain damage — incurable, irreversible, progressive, and nearly always fatal.
