When what you ate was what was available..
We're already spoiled and discovering new ingredients while waiting for the harvest to come in should be no biggy..
If I had a restaurant, I'd market the #BuyCanadian based on that alone
The same effect happens in greenhouses. They pump their growth with copious amounts of water and never give fruit the time to ripen. The end result is pretty but flavourless.
I've been told too much water dilutes their flavour, they bulk up but it has no effect on sweetness. It's anecdotal but I can say with confidence the tiny wild strawberries I've picked are better
