75 mil cast their ballots FOR THE NICE BLACK LADY. As in maybe it isn’t warranted to rag on the protester who didn’t vote 🪷 because there’s a whole lot MOAR 🪷 voters who didn’t get out in the streets last weekend.
They shouldn't be bothered, though. This isn't saying protest is bad. This is saying the people who protested but then didn't follow it up with voting two days later need to understand what creates change.
I am saying the number of protestors who didn’t vote two days later might very well be vastly overstated. If everyone who voted in the primary gathered at Reston Town Center, the reporting would be all “MASSIVE TURNOUT” even though the numbers would be the same.
Possibly. I would also expect, though, that people who did not themselves see the protests should be moved by them. That's the point, right? To impact those not protesting? Because any way we slice it, <10% voting turnout is terrible.
Voting is inherently really quiet while demonstrating is inherently loud. I’m reminded of handwringing over there being more votes in American idol than the ballot box. Yeah because my SIXTEEN year old self can vote for Kimberly Locke 500 times on the same evening!
