My son was born cleft palate 17 years ago. We had wonderful support from the cleft team in Bristol through his surgery and follow ups. Clapa offered support but I declined as children with lip and palate need it more. Supported for 17 years though!!

My friend's daughter was also born with a cleft palate, which has successfully been repaired. I don't think people realise though, that the initial repair is not the only op these children will need. Thank you for raising the profile x

My mother was a nurse, she donated to charities like The Heart Fund and the cancer society, she was the most caring and concerned person I have ever met. And I will never equal that, but I try hard. In life do what you can, as best you can, and that is enough.

Anton stayed at my mum's boarding house near Birmingham for awhile in the 70s. She's 89 and frail now, but still goes on about how he was one of the best 'boys' we had lodging with us. Says a lot :)

My daughter was also born with a cleft palate, she was tube fed for the first 18 months of being born and we had special shaped teats for her baby bottles. After 3 successful operations she can lead a normal life and now has a top job and climbing the career ladder.

My son was born with a cleft palate, CLAPA along with the South Thames Cleft Team were amazing. As he was a home birthday we didn't find out for three days as he struggled to feed, Clapa and the ST sprung into action within hours, with special bottles, advice and emotional support.
