1/ I recently was a juror on a case (first time) and was seriously shocked at the, uh, amount of “special” there was in people who were dismissed in jury selection. Unclear how much was genuine vs wanting to be dismissed.
2/ The worst was an elder white man who said he grew up in a border town and was taken to Tijuana for bullfights as a child. As a result, he said he believed all Mexicans are barbaric… and the man says this in a court where the judge has a Spanish last name.
3/ And I could tell the judge was angry but stayed composed, asking what that had to do with the case, and finally just realized there was no point in further conversing with the man and dismissed him.
Meanwhile I got ejected because I pointed out a flaw in one of the attorneys stories when they were talking to us. Jury selection is such a stupid game.
