Trump wanted Covid to “wash over” us, not sure his reasoning, if it was because he wants people to suffer and die, he didn’t want to accidentally help “blue” Americans, he’s very, very, ignorant- anyhow doesn’t matter. He doesn’t care that Americans suffer and die, probably enjoys thinking about it.
My question for @joshuasweitz.bsky.social is this: Given academia and institutions have seemingly turned a blind eye to what Makary, Weldon, Bhattacharya and others have been doing over the past 5 years, why should they change now? Fear of a backlash? I'm asserting they're fine with what happens.
Thanks for your response. Yes, they've been called out. And...they still seem to have status. As an example, I'm betting that Makary and Bhattacharya will retreat to their offices at Johns Hopkins and Stanford with no diminishment of their roles there. No matter what may happen in the next 4 years.
They're the ones who've screamed all of their lives "you're not the boss of me!".
They cherry pick their Bible verses, because they don't want rules.
They won't vaccinate their kids b/c no one is gonna tell them what to do.

Why should they change? Little reason to think they will.

Authority to them is an enemy.
Leopards SHOULD eat their faces.
