This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.

I have contended that candidate for public office need to campaign for 10 days while living in a homeless shelter.

Making it in by curfew. You don't get your wallet or cell phone. Your campaign aides can pick you up and dress you. Empty your pockets when going back in for the night.

Yes, in theory, empathy can be learned, but it would also be nice for people to recognize that there isn't just one definition.

Well, that’s part of it, IMO, because that’s a failure of *their* empathy. It’s easy to tell when someone might struggle with expressed emotion but still clearly cares about the impact they have on other people.

Unlearning that empathy is a single, immutable thing is the key.
