All of the corporate news orgs are controlling & limiting what you hear about & how. They're certainly rarely questioning or challenging the underlying American assumptions of governance & economics. And yes, this includes msnbc, npr, nyt, etc.

MSNBC is under NBCUniversal News Group, which is part of Comcast. The chairman of NBCUniversal News Group is Cesar Conde, who also serves on the Board of Directors of Walmart & Pepsi. The president of Comcast, Michael Cavanagh, used to be co-CEO of JPMorgan & the Carlyle Group. Not exactly lefties.
I'm not saying there aren't great journalists, but they are hamstrung by their editorial boards as to which stories can be told & what aspects they're allowed to delve into. The endorsement issues at WaPo & LAT were not one-offs. They were just very public and hard to miss.
I find that the ones are MSNBC seem to be able say whatever they think. I feel bad for the good ones who have to make hard decisions about working, going along or paying the rent.
While they claim that they are not influenced by their corporate donors, they are still influenced by a system in which we have to rely on corporate philanthropy. They come from a perspective of capitalist realism just as much as the WSJ.
If you mean by "spread out" that many non-billionaires and actual poors violently support capitalism with their every breath, you're not wrong. But trust that it's the "royals" and oligarchs who keep us steeped in the belief that they are not only necessary but appointed by God to be rich.
