RJ becomes the very tradeable asset going into next year if they decide there are gaps. There aren't really any other 20/6/6 players under 25 years old that are also under $30 million a year and not on rookie contracts.

Seems fair to me.

I really don't get this signing. That's a win-now play, and the rest of the team is on the win-later (closer to the end of those 3 years than the beginning) plan. Probably why the Raptors are at the bottom of the league.

Don't agree. They have Scottie entering his 2nd contract. IQ / RJ are both into their second contract (RJ & Jak only has one year left). With Grady, Ochai and the rookies all looking like they have potential, it is time to try to win. They have the yng veteran starters, bench mob + a top pick coming

But this hurts their chances of getting a top 3 pick this year, which are the only really good ones in a weak draft. This strikes me as the same kind of mistake Brooklyn made when they signed Shroeder, a move they later had to undo because it was counterproductive.
