Draco had frowned at him. “For what?”
“Not this again,” Theo sighed, pulling a hand down his face. “Quidditch. You promised the other idiots you would play Quidditch, and that I could watch everyone’s asses as they zoomed around.”
“I know. You all do,” Theo agreed. “Now come on!”
Draco’s wallet lay abandoned on the table.
Wand.
Wit-Sharpening Potion.
Locket of Lyra and Hermione.
Draco stood in the doorway as Lucius sat on the back porch, with the twilight sky slowly darkening around him. It would be cold soon and his father’s body was too weak.
Lucius’s eyes slid over him, blank and lifeless.
Tears pricked in Draco’s eyes.
“I know.”
Draco guided Lucius inside, an arm supporting his elbow, as his wand fell soundlessly onto the carpet.
