I have been trying out "youtube music" to do a 2025 test of the "web apps can replace real apps" hypothesis that gmail started. It is about as flaky as you would expect, good for a few songs then something goes wrong.

The negative take in 2025 on the "if email can be a web app, anything can" hypothesis is that everyone gave up on email and started using (native) messaging apps.
On youtube music: the actual content and structure of the program seems fine. Could probably compete with Spotify, though the name is very confusing. It is not youtube.
On 'it is not yuotube' part: isn't it? Most songs seem to be just an audio version of the video from youtube? (point - if it is on youtube it is on youtube music, and everything is on youtube); also search seems much faster/precise than both regular youtube or spotify (at least in my experience)

It's been shite ever since and I'll never forgive them for killing the human curation of Songza playlists
iirc spotify also has a pure web client, does that work better for you?
