The Regime wants to privatize public schools with your tax dollars so their buddies can get rich while kids with disabilities, brown kids and LGBTQ+ kids are excluded.
You know the bus that picks up kids with disabilities for school? You realize that is thanks to Human rights, aka DEI, right?
Let's not forget another bandit, Seth Andrew, who went to prison in 2022 after he was caught stealing $218,000 from the Democracy Prep network of charter schools he founded.
Same with the charter high school near me. The administration pays themselves huge salaries and then tells teachers they can't afford the supplies they need. The corruption is blatant but no one can stop them.
I wish I could go around and stamp a giant F on all their heads at the next meeting.
Charter schools are bad. They always have been they always will be. Privatizing things like prisons, healthcare, and education always leads to worse outcomes.
Just funneling money from US taxpayers to private companies that providing subpar services.
Some states do them well. Mine keeps them as part of the district, and requires that they are regularly recertification by proving their results are above the district average. All teachers are still district employees.
Snaps would say thatβs an improvement. But is still skeptical of your particular example. How accessible are they how much money do they draw from the state and federal government? What sort of access do physically and mentally disabled children have or not have. What does the curriculum look like?
Same curriculum as the district. Same per pupil funding but no athletic or facilities funding that the neighborhood schools get. Same IDEA requirements to follow. Less wrap around support services but a better staffed special ed department compared to neighborhood schools on the district.
All students in the district have an equal chance of getting a lottery spot. Only advantages go to siblings of existing students and children of school staff.
And how long were teacher raises held up as punishment because Abbott's vouchers didn't pass? How many businesses are just like this? The CEO can shop for luxury lifestyles while the actual people who work full time + are trying to put together a monthly budget to live.
The only charter schools that come close to being ethical are the ones where they remain part of the district, and teachers are still union members and district employees. Basically, magnet schools run by and outside org and are filled by lottery.
This is outrageous! Pushing for taxpayer dollars to go to charter and private schools is a "get rich quick" scam. There is so much corruption in Texas.
