No more lag when scrolling.

I don't mind the plethora of crap bc I've found gems in there.

It's just difficult to discover gems when by the 3rd page the store scrolling becomes a painful crawl.

The Wii u had a 5 star rating if users had played the game more than 1 hour. You could then sort by review score. Bye bye clocks, asset swaps & hentai.

It's been a little bit since I looked at the eshop, but I remember using the search function was annoying enough that I only ever used it to look for very specific games. I would need to take another look at it to give more detailed notes.

Discoverablity is in shambles, no reviews, searching for new games is pain when there are so many got dang hentai games flooding the new releases and while I don't want to make it harder for genuine game from no name indies making their way there needs to be some moderation to push against the slop.

- Lack of music is one. Some kind of ambience would be nice. Or even a little tune like on the Wii U / 3DS eShops. Both the PS5 and Xbox (I think Xbox) has some kind of ambient sounds that play in the background while you browse. The Switch eShop feels like a boring place to look for games.

- Laggy performance. I know it depends on your Internet connection, but even with a strong, stable connection, it still takes a bit of time to load. It would benefit the most from some kind of UI improvement. Perhaps optimize it more for an easier time browsing.

- Lack of quality control. The over-abundance of hentai, shovelware, and exact duplicates under the same name(s) has taken over the eShop. Nintendo needs to do better at moderating what goes on their digital storefront. There are more hentai games than Mario games for crying out loud.

Discoverability is a mess. It was great for the first year or so, then the slop arrived but curation, in the form of tools, algorithms or human touch, never really arrived.

Lack of quality control that has let thousands of AI games flood the platform. Nintendo (and other companies) need to dramatically step up their moderation process so AI slop is not 99% of the store.

But this applies to the homescreen as well no?
I mean it is a joy to boot up the WiiU or 3DS as there is a tune playing in the background and with the 3DS it even changes the sounds of choosing an item when using the Smash Bros Theme for example.

The sheer amount of shovelware and AI slop mainly, though the lack of quality of life features like multiple payment methods and reviews is also an issue.

In terms of improvements, better game organization and some actual quality control would go a long way.

They really should clean it up. Remove all the horrible mobile game ports from it or give them a different category in the store. Also the performance on it is horrible and loading something can take ages sometimes.

- Performance, lagging between pages and while scrolling
- Sending games to friends
- Basket Feature
- Music
- Games should remove from Wish List once purchased
- Review system. For better or worse, they shouldn’t shy away from publicly viewable feedback

- Smartphones could redirect shop links to the app

Scanning game covers and products to search them. If you’re logged into the app or would make it quicker to snap what you’re looking at, be it a website or a friends game, and view it in-store

It definitely needs more robust curation, and less of an emphasis on the shovelware/low effort cash grabs that almost always seems to be front and centre every time I load it up.

Very much in need of some performance tweaks as well because it is painfully slow and clunky to navigate.

Having just stumbled across this thread, it so desperately needs quality control. The amount of uh, tat (want to say a different word), on it is off the charts. When the eShop of Switch 2 launches I really hope this happens. Oh and a shopping cart where I don't have to buy 3 games individually.
