Large garden waste bags available online. Cram the cuttings in & take them to the local recycling centre. I had the same situation & decided a shredder was going to be a one-off expensive purchase.
Great job but I really hope you checked for nests as it’s still bird nesting season. Best time to cut a hedge is end July then another cut before March if you want to help birds survive. Just an observation - no malice intended
I posted previously about how I’d left it so long because blackbirds were nesting - they fledged a few weeks back. I checked it for other nests beforehand.
I know it’s the wrong time to cut it, but if it got any bigger, it would have been completely unmanageable.
So pleased you didn’t take offence. Sadly I missed your previous post but lovely to hear about your consideration of the birds. I’ve got Blackbirds still nesting in our hedge so have to wait a bit longer (& hoping my neighbour does too)
Get a few one tonne bags. Cut the clippings into smaller sections and fill the bags. Several trips to the tip. I hope you have beer to celebrate afterwards. It will be a stirling effort.
We have a garden recycle bin. If you do - cut it into smaller bits. Fill it. Leave it in the sun for a day (lid open) to dry out/shrink. Get teenage son to climb in/on the bin and stomp down. Repeat for as long as it takes. We got nearly the same amount in ours over a week! (Two extra rubble sacks)
It’s hard to tell from the pic but it does shrink down a lot when it’s dried out I promise! If you’re right tho I’d agree that beg, borrow rent or buy a shredder is the answer - unless you’ve got an area you can create a ‘wildlife haven’. Lots of things love garden waste!
