The Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) planned to put out a statement supporting Israel while it commits genocide. Danielle Monique spoke up and was fired for insubordination. We have to do better in the kid lit community.

It's...not been great. I feel for the kind friends involved at the local levels (like you!) but the executive committee and leadership has shown their hand again at the cost of good people involved 😕

such a bummer. it’s hard especially where I’m at in a v rural area, because it’s the best that I know resource/mechanism to try and build local community and support in the kidlit space, and we’re so new I don’t even know what I’m doing!
