It’s a tough one for me. Because when I hand over that paper I have no clue what happens to it BUT in order for it to be “leaked” really someone needs physical access to the hospital or waste disposal site (assuming it doesn’t get shredded appropriately)

Conversely more controls could be put in place for the online form but it could also be accessed potentially by a wider number and collection of baddies

I don't have a strong preference, for the same reasons you list. Ultimately in either case I need to trust the humans involved in the processes to do the right thing.

I prefer paper. Source: used to haul stuff at a hospital as a summer intern job, including shredded documents and paper to the on-prem furnace.

It's going to end up online/in a system connected to the Internet, so why not cut out the paper risk and associated keying risks? Paper does need to be retained for some people though.

It's really depends on the culture of the organisation collecting the data. If they have the right policies and procedures for retaining and securing the data, for me it does make a difference if its on paper or digital.

I’d rather they didn’t ask for data they probably already have access to. Had that recently, when I know damn well they already have all of my details. But they quite often use it as a double check, I think. And paper is going to be less of a risk, imo.

That is why GDPR covers paper.... in the UK🤷‍♀️.
I would prefer a computer or some secure DB, in case I am unable to fill the thing. A computer in the open would be a privacy concern, like people do not stay a few steps back. A DB would contain all your doc and exams like in the nordics

I’d rather have it be on an EMR system vs printed. From my experience, printed is not going to be more secure bc there’s likely going to be a PDF copy floating around that no one ever thinks to delete after the info is entered into the system.

It all gets entered into the system regardless, but i guess the online version can be tampered with like people forgetting to submit before handing to next patient etc.

PS hospitals suck.
