I'm good Lovely One. Saw that Don Dunstan face & knew it had to be you. In a dark & cool house today. We went out w/friends Saturday so having Sun & Mon home to stay cool & keep cats cool indoors is the go. A bit of 'pool envy' hearing next door dive bomb every now & then. Sigh! 🏊‍♂️ 🌞

2/ 10am and already 28ºC here in central west Victoria, just heard thunder (which means lightning/bushfires) & wind's already gusting up to ~40km/hr.

Water out for wildlife, curtains drawn, house locked up tight, emergency warning apps on, emergency kit ready for power outage &/or evacuation.👊

Luckily well designed home, mud brick, double glazed windows etc so stays cool in here no air conditioning, with more people had this.
Also don't have to worry (mostly) about things like, crime, traffic jams, noise etc. so... swings and round about.

Yes, ppl should also try to budget/prioritise tit into their build & stricter legislation, to future proof, reduce long term costs, improve standards of structures.

Corners were cut in other areas of this build, very cheap kitchen/bathrooms (I didn't build it) easier to upgrade them than the former

that is incredibly smart design, we have a cooling/heating unit in our main room where we spend most of our time, don't have double glazing sadly but on the upside, since the solar panels were put in a couple of years ago our electricityprices have come down significantly.

Yes, built ~20yrs ago, if more homes were built in Aus. with same building codes (insulation etc) as Europe, half our energy needs wouldn't even exist.

Not as 'sexy' as debating energy sources, but shit load easier, cheaper & better for all in the long run.

I've watered the herb pots, tomatoes and hydrangeas; topped up the bird baths, and retreated indoors. Canberra 35 degrees maybe a storm. Thankfully Mr Priestly the shi tzui was groomed yesterday so he has a short back & sides, plenty of water.

Similar prep here, all North 7 west window curtains drawn, windows/doors closed, extra ice made in freezer last night & food ready to eat without cooking (power outage etc) also.
