It's likely a few things; a deal tactic, a distraction from his other failed ambitions, & a gross misunderstanding of deeper issues. Thinking Trump is "stupid" is dangerous. He's Narcissistic & ignorant on many issues for sure but not stupid. He is also a tool for others of course. He's a spectrum.
