That's an artwork... The fallen leaves say Autumn but the springs say, well, Spring. Also there's a juxtaposition of nature and technological constructs innit

actually that's not true. it's this. it's the original mile marker from when they were surveying this area, mile 17 baseline road which is now stark street. a farmer dug up and threw all these away, and this is one of the few a group of multnomah university students were able to find in the dump

there's a history of them in the book "history and folklore of the david douglas community" which mult co library has, i remember it's what inspired me to go find this one, which i had never noticed prior
