okay now the issue is the old man with mild to moderate dementia running on half an apple fritter and one hour of sleep and refusing to either eat or sleep because he's so hopped up on adrenaline
Can you take him for a walk in the fresh air or is that not a great idea? New surroundings might reset his thought pattern, a bit of a walk and fresh air might make him hungry or sleepy, it'll make you feel like you're addressing the problem? (I express love and concern by solutionising)
(I came back to check on you and so it's belated, but yes, this, for all the things, including walks (and possibly baths and naps if feasible) for the entire support team. Glad it went well.)
:( my dad ended up being very kindly asked to not spend the night at the hospital with mom due to how upset he was so he came home with us and woke us up over and over during the night wanting to go find mom and not understanding where she was
he was extra upset because he hadn't sleeped so now he's trapped us all in a doom loop of being overtired, the only people who slept were the lads so they're bright eyed and bushy tailed and tearing the house down
i called my mom's room and she feels absolutely terrible and her pain meds gave her delirium so she didn't sleep at all either. i only got to talk to her for a second but i said "hi mama how are you" and she just said "horrible" and didn't respond to anything else
so basically both my parents are having the absolute worst time of their lives and me and brian and twin toddlers are just also here trying to idk raise morale and force people to go to sleep and they're not listening to us and going to sleep
he won't talk to a doctor about it because he says there's nothing anyone can do. i've been trying to get him to go for like, two years. he just flat-out refuses and i can't physically make him
