I'm in a weird place when it comes to speedruns or glitch exploits. I have a completely irrational hatred of it but at the same time think they are amazing technical discoveries. Seriously, I straight up recoil or make a sour face when seeing some objectively cool glitches. Whyyyyy? 😵
The way I often see it is that there's a sentiment that speedrunners who use glitches are "taking a shortcut" and aren't getting the full experience of the game
It helps to recognize that speedrunning and even these large scale sequence breaks often come from a place of deep love for the game
That, and maybe a bit of: "what was even going through your mind to even try that?" "Why would you jump on a bench, backwards flip and walk on a non-existant ground?" "Whyyyyyyyy?" 😂
season 1 used cel animation, so a pretty recent remaster was able to get that high detail from the original physical materials, as opposed to the seasons afterward which were done digitally in standard definition
I mean... Can you really say Spongebob *wouldn't* be a speedrunner if they had videogames in Bikini Bottom? Look at the way this boy acts, he's *prime* "hyperfixate on Glover for the Squidtendo 64" energy.
I completely understand where you're coming from but this is vital information:
The barrier skip is a decades old titanic legend of a skip that was once thought to be impossible. This is like making perpetual motion machine with 2 cups of milk and some dust bunnies.
