Canadian grocery stores have been doing a decent job of pivoting away from American produce and products, but the rustic pile of maple-flavoured treats at the front door remains the big patriotic move. 🍁

A friend of mine commented that they've seen customers, one after another, pick up a discounted pack of strawberries, see that it's American, put it back down on a giant untouched pile, and then move on.
The produce options are admittedly a bit limited if you go Canada-only but I'm fully prepared to eat lots of beet and turnip stew next winter if it means avoiding stuff from the south.
