I'm relentless about this. If a person doesn't make their own posts on a regular basis, and only reposts other things that people have said, I have no interest in following them. (I try really hard not to be that kind of poster myself, too.)

Agreed. I had to unfollow someone ystday who I generally enjoy but they're swamping my feed with tens of dozens of election reposts and memes.
Q: is there a way to mute reposts on here from specific accts?

I think there is? Look for the three dots to the right of the follow button. That gets you a menu that includes "mute account"

But I may have misunderstood and you're looking for something different?
