Optogenetic activation of Sox10+ Schwann cells does activate thermosensitive fibres, but with longer latency than for mechanoreceptors & optogenetic inhibition does not alter thermal threshold, thus Schwann cells seem to regular mechano-, but not thermosensitivity

Activation of Sox10+ Schwann cells in Meissner's corpuscles stimulates rapidly, but not slowly adapting mechanoreceptors (RAM/SAM), faster kinetics than mechanical stimulation shows tight coupling. Their inhibition raises the RAM vibration threshold.

Some Sox10+ Schwann cells are also Sox2+, their stimulation activated both RAMs & SAMs to produce sustained firing in both! Latency of effects are slow. Sox2+ Schwann cell inhibition also raises RAM vibration threshold
