When I first learned of & shared her story (as a 🇨🇦) my first thought was that she was a tourist, w a valid tourist visa & that if this could happen to a tourist, it meant a drastic escalation of aggression to ANY non-US citizen regardless of colour.

I first thought that there was so much coverage (as there should be) bc the was a foreign tourist. I do think a lot of it was that, but I definitely had to recognize my privilege and understand that the color of her skin certainly increased coverage. Im still learning to notice white privilege
