Well yeah that's the GG playbook. There were/are ethical qualms in gaming journalism (bribes, kickbacks, etc), but it was used as a smokescreen for the real concern: shrieking at women for existing.

Granted, the current smokescreen covers a scarier effort: the establishment of technofascism

No, not really. This is just fascism, which is what capitalism does. It's not nice, it's brutal, and always has been. There's no need to obfuscate the enemy by calling it something else.
