I lived in a mid-size American city for almost a decade. Although I rarely had money, I loved trying out the multicultural food and markets that we had. Then I was forced to come back to my hometown (I don't want to get into it) which is 99.8% "white." The lack of variety is awful.

I go outside to the food carts where a few save their bottle caps for me and most of them live in the same building I live in. There’s the Gyro guys, the many taquerias, the Indian carts, the Thai carts, the Chinese restaurant and the B E S T italian cart run by a Latina lady.. I love PEOPLE.

I do half of my shopping at an Asian supermarket and about 3/4 of everything is imported. Trump’s tariffs are going to hit immigrant communities especially hard. It’s also going to make restaurant prices skyrocket.

I agree. And I believe in the vast majority of people. I don’t think what’s happening is sustainable. But I always believed that the worst was gonna be the first 6 months to a year. But I believe in the strength and numbers of that diversity you describe. I truly do.

Amen. When I moved from the suburbs to Berkeley for college, I was amazed at all the cultures I never even knew about. I’m always saddened by all those Fox folk who work in NYC and spend so much time decrying diversity.
