"At times of flood, Oxfordshire’s sewage works cannot cope, and overflow into the Thames into its tributaries. The Environment Agency says the situation must not get any worse – which means if Thames Water does not act on sewage, development will stop."

Abingdon Road is closed, according to the Oxford Bus Company, although friends living nearby report that drivers are merely being advised to go slowly (and not necessarily following that advice).

Stagecoach are also advising the same. Even if the road isn't closed, large vehicles displace a lot more water and easily create waves, so it's sensible to send the buses along alternative routes.
