FWIW, I think that it should be entirely their own choice, subject to safeguards like undue pressure. Absolutely no ushering.

I have met too many people are just waiting to die and am too much of a humanist to think otherwise. My body and my choice, and all that.

I am not fan of Dan Hitchens...he has a legitimate view on right to die, and that forms the basis of all that follows from him. He seems led by belief, without regard to other peoples rights, in particular self autonomy.

"You will be disabled if you live long enough," should not be necessary, but somehow "have empathy" is a lesson many have refused.

I agree, I don't think it therefore follows that assisted dying is illegitimate though. Everyone should be given the best quality of life, but that includes control over the suffering you have to endure. (I am not engaging with the specifics of the new british legal situation, don't know enough).

They shouldn't HAVE to work. If they want to, then they can but too many people think they shouldn't be in benefits at all.

However should someone choose assisted dying, i think that too should be available - not just for terminal illnesses. There are other areas to consider eg - paralysis, choice for dementia in advance

Under 18s can also be in a completely untenable position. There's nothing stopping them from being in permanent intractable agony before an inevitable death. I don't want them tortured either.
